Homecoming 2012

Homecoming week started out with a bang after Aaron was crowne Homecoming King.  After coronation, the annual He-Man volleyball game took place in the high school gym.  Aaron has participated in this competition since 9th grade and he couldn't wait to play again in his senior year.  Aaron and the rest of the CC team ran the football from Rochester to Stewartville on Friday.  Aaron only ran 4 miles since he had to get back to Stewartville to go to all of the elementary pepfests on Friday afternoon.  The Homecoming parade was at 5:00 on Friday.  The weather during the parade & football game was absolutely beautiful.  On Saturday night, Liz and Aaron went to their 4th Homecoming dance together.  It sure was a week to remember!

Aaron's Summer Baseball Wraps up in 2012

After having a successful school season of baseball, there were high hopes that the Legion season would do the same....which ultimately happened.  Aaron's team ended the season 3rd in State in division 2 of the state Legion Tournament held in Sacred Heart, MN.   Aaron ended the season 6-0 pitching.  He also played first base and 2nd base throughout the season.  Drew was his biggest fan!

Drew's Summer Baseball Season Wraps Up

Drew had another successful summer baseball season.  Each week, Drew's 11U team played a double header in the Zumbro Valley League and he also played one night each week in Stewartville's in-house league.  In addition to league play, Drew played in 5 weekend tournaments.  In their last tournament of the season, they earned 2nd place honors at the Byron tournament.  Drew played many different positions...focusing on the infield.  He did an awesome job pitching.

Ohhh...so close!

Aaron & his baseball team was one step away from playing in the state baseball tournament this spring. They lost in the section finals to Cannon Falls to go to state.  Even though the team did not reach their state tournament goal, they had a great year.  The team ended the season with a 19-6 record, conference championship and section runner-up honors.  Not too dang bad!

Junior Prom

Aaron and Liz went to prom this past Saturday night.  We started taking pictures around noon.... grand march was at 4:00 PM.  After the grand march, the kids were loaded onto coach buses to Stillwater.  There they boarded a river boat for the rest of their prom activities.  They returned to Stewartville around 2 AM.  Around a dozen of Aaron's buddies and dates spent the night at one of their homes where they ate breakfast, played basketball & ping pong to the early morning hours.  Once again, Dan chaperoned prom.  He said the kids were great and had an awesome time!
Some of the kids went to the nursing home to do a "mini grand march" for the residents of the nursing home.

It has been a tradition to get the baseball boys together for a picture... here they gather around Dan:-)

They also posed for a picture too.

Baseball Team off to a Great Start!

After a successful spring trip to Florida, the Tiger baseball team has jumped off to a 4-0 start.  Aaron has done a great deal of pitching so far this year.  In his last appearance, he pitched a complete game...allowing only one hit.  That hit came with one out in the 7th inning!   Aaron also has two pitching saves.

Spring Florida Trip

23 baseball players, plus coaches and families ventured southward during spring break to have fun in the Florida sun.  Aaron's team scrimmaged squads from New York, Kentucky and Illinois.  In addition to playing baseball, we had a fun time on Cocoa Beach as well.  Drew got to swim in the ocean as well as do a little fishing off of the pier.  Click HERE to see our Florida baseball blog that I updated while we were gone.

Rochester Consolation Champs

Drew's spring basketball team played in Rochester's annual basketball tournament this weekend earning consolation honors.  They won their first game vs Lakeville North, but lost their second game of the tournament to Wayzata.  The team regrouped after the loss to win their next 3 games (Orono, Rochester John Marshall, Onalaska, WI).  Drew scored a game high 19 points vs John Marshall.   Next week we are off to the Cities for the Grade State Tournament.

Drew's Team Continue on their Winning Ways

Drew's basketball team has had a lot of success this season.  With17 boys on their team it was important to get as much court time as possible for each player.   So the coaches divided the team into 2 squads, going to 2 different tournaments each weekend.  Each tournament a different group of boys played together.   So far they have won 4 tournaments & got 2nd place in 4 tournaments (3 of the championship games losses were lost by 2 or less points).  It has been a very busy winter but it has been a lot of fun.  Drew will also play on a "spring" season squad too.  Here are a few snapshots from the last 3 tournaments.
